5. Dual Play Is Every Bit As Awesome As You've Probably Expected
"Suddenly Batman has grabbed an enemy and thrown them into the air for one of his friends to smash down on their neck, taking them out. Then guess what? Youre controlling said friend, and you can continue battling away, switching back and forth whenever you fancy (L1), or every time you do a dual takedown." - Adam Cook, GodIsAGeek.com "Theres even a predator section where Batman and Robin silently take out guards as a pair." - Sam Roberts, GamesRadar.com
We've seen reams of footage showcasing Arkham Knight's much-touted 'dual play', which makes use of the Dark Knight's allies in combat to deliver devastating combos and finishers. The tag-team style beatdowns sure looked cool, but does dual play actually hold up as a solid mechanic all it's own? Well, reviews would seem to suggest that Rocksteady has indeed delivered on the promise of ally-assisted combat. Far from being a worthless gimmick, dual play is said to inject new energy into the signature combat style of the Arkham series. And it doesn't end with simple fisticuffs either, as partners are also reported to be tagging along for a number of sequences and side quests throughout the game - many of which even feature some of the Dark Knight's most legendary rogues who are said to factor into several of the sequences in some truly surprising ways.
