Tying in with the idea of the Bat-family being present is also, allegedly, the inclusion of cooperative gameplay for the first time in the franchise.

Although Warner Bros Montreal dabbled with multiplayer in their original Bat-title, Arkham Origins, it wasn't actually part of the main gameplay component. Instead, it was a rather lacklustre, tacked-on multiplayer experience, as was the fashion during that time.

In this Batman Arkham reboot, we have to hope that the co-op experience would be woven more into the actual core of the game. It'll be interesting to see how this would work; if it uses the existing freeflow combat system, for example, how would it work with two people controlling two distinct characters at the same time?

This is an exciting prospect for those who'd like to play through the game with a friend, but it remains to be seen how this will potentially affect the single player aspects of the game (for example, certain puzzles might require the use of two people). It could become quite the controversial choice if it really is included.
