Before GTA V: 10 Greatest Side Characters in GTA History

3. Lance Vance

When you first meet Lance Vance in GTA: Vice City, you€™re instantly forgiven for instantly writing him off as a stereotype; a token black guy, who€™s there just €˜cause. But stick with him; with R* there's always depth beyond the superficial. Lance is perhaps one of the most tragic characters in GTA€™s entire history. And that€™s not just a result of the €˜Lance Vance Dance€™ either. Originally appearing in Vice City as an ally, Lance quickly begins to feel undermined, inferior to Tommy Vercetti (who let€™s face it, casts a pretty big shadow) which leads to Lance's betrayal and eventually his necessary demise. But over the course of both Vice City and its sister game Vice City Stories, we learn of a tragic past rife with addiction, psychological damage, jealousy and death. You might initially think Lance is a walking stereotype, but by the time he leaves you, I guarantee you€™ll have changed your mind.
