Black Ops 2 vs Medal Of Honour Warfighter: Which Shooter Rules 2012?

Single-Player

Warfighter's single player, unfortunately, is not very memorable; though it looks fantastic (and we'll get onto that in a second), it's really not got a whole lot beneath the surface; the missions are largely the same standard fare you can see in any military shooter. You breach rooms, run in, kill people, call in air-strikes, and occasionally get to branch out with vehicular sections, which nevertheless feel a bit clunky because the controls and physics aren't quite right. It's admirable that they tried to diversify in some areas, but in terms of combat, it's really exactly what we've seen before, and disappointingly doesn't manage to build to a particularly thrilling crescendo. Black Ops 2, on the other hand, is a revitalisation of the campaign we've become used to. Not only does the future setting give Treyarch a lot more to play with, but they have come up with some additional flourishes to impress, namely a branching narrative (with multiple endings) as well as special Strike Force side-missions, which give the player the opportunity to indulge in some RTS-style tactics-based action. Treyarch really tried to offer something different this year, so it's 3-0 to them so far. Danger Close, on the other hand, offered up the same old product we've seen time in time out, with a few hokey additions that don't quite work. WINNER: Black Ops 2
