Borderlands 3 Wishlist: 10 Things That Must Happen

4. New Elements

No, no, we're not talking about fundamental things like mechanics and gameplay variables. It's much more on the nose: Let's expand the elemental arsenal. Players have shocked, corroded, burned, frozen and slagged enemies over the past three games. In what is ultimately a first-person shooting experience, these little elements (pun intended) inject a healthy dose of strategy to each trigger-happy encounter. Assigning certain enemies to the teammates best equipped to annihilate them, ensuring diversity in your four equipped weapons and switching between them on the fly, smiling as your new shock sniper rips through slagged and heavily shielded enemies - these are the moments that ask players to do more than simply shoot things, and it's incredibly fun to watch your handiwork unfold in burning, melting, electrocuted splendor. Borderlands 3 would do well to let Vault Hunters keep playing the role of tactician, and there's no better way to do so than add in new elemental properties. Heck, it's worth getting them just to view a new tutorial from Marcus.

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games? Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
