8. The Remasters Won't Have Multiplayer
This shouldn't come as a surprise but, should the rumour about the two remasters be true, it's also said that they'll ship without their multiplayer suites. This seemingly corroborates the prior report on MW2 which claimed the same thing, and while it is a travesty that players won't be able to jump into new versions of these iconic modes and maps, it does make a lot of business sense.
Releasing three Modern Warfare titles, each with their own multiplayer components, would undoubtedly split the player base. Black Ops IV is still huge - thanks in no small part to Blackout - so MW4 is also going to partly be vying for the attention of players who are still invested in that experience, and the introduction of two more online suites on top of that would only increase the risk of cannibalisation.
It's pure conjecture, but the best way to resolve this problem could be go down the Master Chief Collection route, and integrate older maps and modes into the core multiplayer of Modern Warfare 4 as a kind of legacy suite. That way fans can get the nostalgic hit of the old maps, while still enjoying the new features the latest game brings to the table.
