Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare - 12 Things Nobody Wants To Admit
7. Ground War Is Awesome (But There Aren't Enough Maps)
What's made the latest COD so engrossing is the sheer amount of variety in the game modes.
Not only is there the regular suite of TDM, Domination and the like, but the 2v2 Gunfight injects some small-scale tension into proceedings, while Ground War takes the opposite approach, throwing tens of players into a giant map to capture points ala Battlefield's conquest mode.
It's awesome, and fits surprisingly well with COD's faster pace. The mode is more than just the introduction of a few vehicles and a larger playspace; it feels like a genuine step forward for the franchise as a whole, and it's way more than just a gimmick.
The problem is, there's nowhere near enough maps to support the mode in the long term. At the time of writing there's only two, and while they're both strong, familiarity sets in pretty quickly. Ground War deserves to be more than a one-and-done experiment, and more levels are needed ASAP.
