Call Of Duty: Ranking Every Game Mode From Worst To Best

5. Sabotage (And Variants)

There have been numerous variants on the 'one target' game type. Sabotage (perhaps the most well-known) tasks players with planting a neutral bomb at the opposition spawn, One Flag CTF is self explanatory, Uplink and Gridiron task players with carrying a ball to the opposition spawn and so on. Given their similarities they are all grouped together here.

The fact that it has gone through so many variants would indicate that the developers cannot get the formula right, but the mode is made consistently more enjoyable than the likes of Demolition and Capture The Flag by virtue of the fact that the one target is constantly mobile. As a result, it's unlikely that every single member of the opposite team is waiting with their guns pointed directly at it and playing the objective is always a realistic possibility.

Each iteration has had its quirks. Uplink and Gridiron give players the dilemma of whether to try and run the ball in (dying more often than not in the process) or throwing it afar but receiving fewer points for their ordeal whilst Sabotage leads to a mad rush to defend or defuse when the one bomb has been planted.

Despite the fun that they offer, the modes are all too frequently ignored given that attempting to carry an object across a map usually results in a much higher volume of deaths than normal.
