Call Of Duty: WWII - 5 Ways It Will Blow Battlefield Out The Water

Battlefield 1, with its gorgeous Frostbite-powered visuals, will take some topping in this category, but the early footage from Call of Duty: WWII suggests it might just pull it off.

What really stands out from the trailers is the authentic lighting and weather effects on show, whether you're slugging it in the dark trenches or fleeing from enemy fire against the open backdrop of a ruined French town.

The game aims to build on the visual feats achieved by Advanced Warfare, which featured stellar animation and motion capture - the diverse range of facial expressions worn by its galactic soldiers were too many to count.

CoD: WWII dabbles in the same wizardry, but it really shows that the development team worked with historians to recreate the game's historical backdrops.

Side-by-side graphical comparisons between Battlefield 1 and CoD: WWII reveal how close this contest is, but the latter edges it, and its darker tone only adds character.
