Call Of Duty WWII: 9 Reasons Why It Will Save The Franchise
8. Multiplayer Is Taking Inspiration From Other Shooters
For better or for worse, Call of Duty's gameplay has always been distinct unto itself. Spearheading new ideas rather than following trends, for the most part the franchise has been content to give players the same experience over and over again, never caring about what the competition is doing.
With the series not being as big as it used to be though, recently Activision has been taking inspiration from other popular shooters in order to shake up the core COD experience. Already adding in supers and a more expanded movement system, the latest COD is also taking a page out of Destiny's playbook, introducing a hub world headquarters for players to hang out in during lobbies.
Not only that but the game is also shaking up the final kill cam for the first time in years, instead adopting a new system based on Overwatch's 'play of the game'.
They're only small changes in the grand scheme of things, but it shows that Activision is willing to look at the competition and adapt to ensure that COD remains relevant.
