COD Black Ops 4: 10 New Features You Need To Know About
10. Single Player Is Gone, Replaced By "Blackout" (Battle Royale)
As mentioned in the intro, Black Ops 4 will be the first Call of Duty outside of foreign shore spin-offs to ditch its single player component and be an entirely "online platform"-type release.
This is clearly in response to industry multiplayer leaders like Fortnite, Overwatch, Rainbow Six: Siege and more not having defined narrative components, and in instead, is Blackout: COD's pioneering battle royale mode.
Said to take place on a map 1500 times bigger than Nuketown, Blackout didn't get any gameplay footage and is yet to have a player count confirmed, but will combine a host of Call of Duty maps stitched together into one gargantuan playspace. Also note older Call of Duty characters are returning as playable, with all abilities and perks transferring across to boot.
Whoever ends up being the Ninja of COD Battle Royale will be some superheroic adonis of pure skill and timing. It will be one hell of a thing to behold.
