Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. Certain Frustrating Levels Have Been Refined

Praise jebus, for the Hog Wild level need not stymy your enjoyment anymore!

Yes, in remaking all of these more momentum-based levels i.e. the ones where Crash leaps on either a warthog or polar bear in Crash 1 and 2, Vicarious Visions have amended the collision detection, meaning you don't get snagged anywhere near as much on random pieces of world geometry.

In Hog Wild it was those damned spiked columns or shield-baring natives, and in Crash 2 is was nigh-on impossible to hit all the levels' crates without getting your path just right.

Thankfully, no more. Now the warthog can survive going that little bit closer to the spikes in those quick left-right-left slaloms, and Polar (the polar bear) gives a wider birth, meaning you need only brush past said crates to break them open.

If you're coming in fresh you'll probably not notice, but for all those who remember how annoying these levels could be in the originals, it's a welcome change.
