Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every N. Sane Trilogy Boss Battle

7. N. Gin - Cortex Strikes Back

Crash Bandicoot Sane Trilogy Cortex
Vicarious Visions

N. Gin is always a fun battle with his heavy use of tech, and here he has probably the most varied attacks in the whole of N. Sane Trilogy, and certainly of Cortex Strikes Back. This first appearance of the classic Crash character set up just what N. Gin was about, although there are a few things that drag it back to the middle of the pack.

It doesn't quite compare with N. Gin's turn in Warped, though that's not too big a deal. But another downfall here is the wumpa fruit. N. Gin and Neo Cortex are the only Cortex Strikes Back bosses that actually impact the story, but both of them seem to have had that story unnecessarily jammed into the boss battle.

N. Gin and his mech are taken out by tossing wumpa fruits at various parts of the suit when it opens. It begs the question as to why Crash can't toss wumpa fruits the rest of the time. Doing so would be incredibly helpful on many of the levels.

It also leaves us wondering if wumpa fruit is hard as steel, or if N. Gin's mech is so shoddy some fruit can take it down.
