Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every N. Sane Trilogy Boss Battle

13. Neo Cortex - Cortex Strikes Back

Dr Neo Cortex is the final boss on all three Crash games present on the N Sane Trilogy, but his second effort, like so many middle children, is a disappointment.

Cortex's boss fight is so underwhelming at the end of Cortex Strikes Back that players who had not played the original game were shocked to find it was over. The battle sidesteps the typical boss arenas for a weird jetpack obstacle course more like Spyro the Dragon than vintage Crash. It's nowhere near as frustrating as Rings Of Power, but maybe if it had been the increased difficulty would make it more suited to Cortex.

Cortex Strikes Back definitely added in a lot more variety than the first installment, with jetpack levels a part of that. They were alright, but nothing that warranted making them the final boss level of the entire game.

Though there was more story in this sequel, it still was not a story game. It was a series of fun levels with boss battles after every five. They really didn't need to be as restrictive as they were in forcing a storyline into Cortex's battle.
