Crash Bandicoot: Ranking Every N. Sane Trilogy Boss Battle

12. Ripper Roo - Cortex Strikes Back

Crash Bandicoot Sane Trilogy Cortex
Vicarious Visions

There's a decent and often overlooked storyline to Ripper Roo, which might say more about this one trick pony of a character than it does about anything else. The first time you encounter Ripper Roo, he's in a waterfall area. The second time in Cortex Strikes Back, he's still there, only this time he's a little more settled.

We disturb him reading a book at his desk, but that's not the only renovation he's put in. The floating tiles have now been entirely paved over, meaning the waterfall is now just set dressing. The positives of this are that it does give us a little more control over Crash, but the downside is just that it's less fun to play through.

The battle consists of Roo dropping a load of Nitro tiles while pogoing around the arena on a walking stick. All we need to do is avoid them and wait for him to eventually land on one he placed earlier, knocking himself out. While the guy's seeing stars, we can give him a quick spin and take a health point off. Rinse and repeat three times. Lack of variation and over-reliance on dodging drags this one down.
