Ever since the N Sane Trilogy, talk of a Crash Team Racing remake has been rampant amongst the Crash fans. Even before the remaster of the original trilogy, love for the racing spin off was so high that many had it at the very top of their wishlist.

Throughout all that, there was one thing consistently mentioned: keep the physics the same. The drift mechanics were what made the original so great, and the tweak took a lot of the sheen off follow up Nitro Kart. The drifting was the game. Get it wrong, and you’ve got Crash Team Racing wrong.

The N Sane Trilogy was a wonderful return to the original Crash games, but in the first one especially there was a noticeable change in the physics. Across all three games, the same jumping mechanic had been applied. This meant Warped ran smooth as ever, but the first game, with no double jump or slide to help it, felt off.

This time around that hopefully won’t be too much of an issue, seeing as they won’t need to adapt physics of multiple games. If the drifting works, the game will be a huge success.
