Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fuelled - 8 Ways To Blow The Original Out The Water
2. Play As Oxide
This one has already caused a little bit of controversy since the announcement at The Games Awards. Nitros Oxide was the final boss of the original Crash Team Racing, and as many a kid found out, could not be unlocked as a playable character. Not even if you aced every time on every track.
These were the days of Mew hidden under the truck in Pokémon Red & Blue. Rumours circulated on exactly how to unlock Oxide, but they all turned out to be fakes. However, those days are long gone, and it’s a sad indication of where gaming is right now. Rather than any test of skill or dedication, Oxide can be unlocked from the start if you purchase the deluxe edition of the game.
Oxide will still be available in the base game, likely through beating the story mode or another similar challenge. Still, it’s a little disappointing to have such a money grubbing move in a game that will likely sell like hot wumpa fruits anyway.
Overall, it’s great for players that Oxide is finally included and the game can feel complete. Just a little disheartening how frequently cash grabs are squeezed into games these days.
