Dark Souls: 10 Cheats & Glitches That Broke The Game
6. Force Boss Invasion As Mound Maker
In Dark Souls 3, there was a relatively difficult to find covenant called the Mound-Makers.
Mad, purple phantoms, they were able to damage both the host and the level enemies, so their entire gimmick was that they could essentially fight on whichever side they wanted, so this led to confusing or uncertain scenarios and a whole load of fun.
They were still constrained by the same conditions as other invading phantoms in that they got sent home if the host made it to the boss fog and entered the fight. Or at least, that was supposed to be the case. What actually happened for a short time period was that you could force your way into a boss fight as a purple phantom.
The way it worked was called force-cast. The basic idea is that you waited until the invasion message came up and then tried to perform two attacks at once with your talisman and then swapped the spell at the last second. For some reason, this would let you invade as normal but with the “benefits” of a white or gold summon.
As a host, you could always send them home with the black crystal, but few realised this.
