Dark Souls 3: 12 Essential Tips New Players Need To Know

1. Learn To Let Go...

There comes a time in every Souls-player's life, where they just learn to let go. Accrued 50,000 souls and looking forward to spending on some much-needed levels, only to die twice in a row and lose them forever?

It's okay, you'll get more. There are always more enemies to kill and areas to grind.

Unlike Dark Souls 2, there's no cap on how many times you can kill a given foe before they disappear forever, so although it'll hurt losing such a potent amount - especially early on when you're still getting used to how things work - just relax, breathe, and know that you'll get those amounts back again.

All-round incredible Youtuber Super Bunnyhop put it best when he said "Your character isn't levelling up, you are". The Souls currency is just a facilitator to deal more damage and ease certain things like movement speed and health/stamina allowance, but the real progression across Dark Souls is learning how to deal with the onslaught of obstacles and enemies yourself.

You'll take a pasting from beginning to end, and the only thing that doesn't carry forward when you die is your abundance of souls. Instead, you'll lick your wounds, know what to expect, dodge when you last got hit, and learn and grow as a Dark Souls player.

That, is why this franchise is so phenomenal. Welcome aboard.

Let us know in the comments how you're getting on, whether this is your first Souls game and how far you are!
