DOOM: 17 Easter Eggs, Secrets & References You Must Find

14. Classic DOOM Maps

Like 2014's Wolfenstein before it (another Bethesda-published old-school shooter), DOOM features the ability to revisit the maps of the 90s original in all their blocky, early polygonated glory.

Whilst your guns, animations and the enemy designs don't change, their placement in the various corridors is the exact same as it was back in 1993. Each level in the game features one of these offshoot secret areas - you need only find the requisite pull-able level to open a door in the environment, and then wander in.

The above video shows you were they all are, but they're brilliant fun to try and seek out yourself. As another little bonus, if you die in an explosion (the barrels will do it) the resulting animation that shows your head rolling around reveals a re-textured face to be that of the original Doomguy.
