DOOM Eternal: 8 Things We Learned From Hugo Martin On Joe Rogan Experience
6. DOOM Eternal Will Include DLC
One of the things Martin did confirm about the upcoming game is the inclusion of DLC. Despite Rogan appearing to know what DLC is, Martin did ensure to confirm that DOOM Eternal will feature several expansions in the months following release.
Many fans of the series found themselves disappointed at the lack of single-player DLC included in the otherwise excellent DOOM 2016 title, which only provided upgrades to the multiplayer after launch.
This confirmed reports from the summer of last year when DOOM Eternal Executive Producer Marty Stratton stated in an interview with Official Xbox Magazine that the team at id Software had taken into account some of the community feedback following DOOM 2016 and were determined to not make similar mistakes with the upcoming game:
"Honestly, it’s through demand that we’re doing that. We see hundreds and hundreds of thousand players continuing to play Doom 2016, and we’ve got nothing [to give them]. They’ve asked for more DLC, they’ve asked for more ways to play, and honestly, we got straight into the development of Doom Eternal and haven’t given them anything. So I’m really excited about things like Master Levels, and the DLC that we have, new challenges that we’ll be offering on a monthly or weekly basis, we’ll be continuing to support Battle Mode, adding Invasion, we’ve got so much that we want to do post-launch, really giving players what they’ve been asking us for, coming back for more of the game, and giving them some more variety in that experience."
