E3 2016: 9 Ups & 5 Downs From Sony's Conference

With no prior information, a trailer dropped for a new VR survival horror game which seemed to be in the vein of the much-loved demo P.T. and Capcom's own Kitchen demo.
The 4-minute clip shows a man waking up in a dilapidated building, where a phone call from a woman tells him to escape before he's killed. Cue the player walking past some incredibly creepy mannequins and down the dingy staircase to the dirty kitchen.
A mysterious figure walks past the hallway, and after the player follows, they find a tape which they insert into a VCR, playing a series of disturbing images. It's then revealed that we've been watching gameplay from Resident Evil VII, which is due out January 24 next year on PS4, Xbox One and also PC.
It's an extremely radical upending of the classic RE formula, and looks like it could be one of the most atmospheric and intense AAA games in recent memory. On the other hand, it'll take a brave soul to get through the entire game in VR. Jesus Christ.
