E3 2018: 10 Xbox-Saving Announcements Microsoft Must Make
9. Price Cuts
Without contest, the Xbox One X is the dearest home console on the market, even outpacing Sony's own mid-generational upgrade by a considerable margin. It's to be expected, of course. The PS4 Pro boasts a lot of power underneath its matte black shell, but the One X is objectively more powerful and demands more cash because of it.
However, Microsoft isn't currently on the winning side in this phase of the so-called 'console war'. Sony has the hardware sales and lucrative software to ensure it keeps its established lead, and Microsoft won't be able to close that gap simply on the grounds that it holds ownership of gaming's most premium hardware.
Early adopters that wanted the One X as close to day one as possible have already achieved their goals, and the only potential customers that remain are those that are undecided on dropping near-to half a grand on a console that, currently, only boasts the selling point of making multi-platform titles look incrementally prettier than the Pro's.
In the continued absence of any first-party software, a modest price cut could be all the convincing thousands need to take the plunge.
