E3 2018: 13 Insane Announcements That Could Actually Happen
5. Deep Down Is Finally Resurrected
Deep Down was first announced back at the February 2013 PlayStation Meeting when the PS4 itself was also first unveiled, so to call the game long overdue is an hilarious understatement.
Word has been quiet on the visually stunning dungeon crawler for many years, during which it was apparently significantly overhauled. However, many believe the game has effectively been cancelled, and we're just awaiting a formal announcement of such.
That said, word broke this past week that Capcom has renewed the trademark for Deep Down, suggesting in the very least that it still has some interest in the property, while prompting speculation that the game may be reintroduced at E3.
How Likely Is It?: Trademark filings are often just a formality to protect a company's potential interests rather than a concrete indication of a reveal, so it's not worth reading too much into that.
However, it doesn't mean Deep Down isn't appearing at E3 either, and honestly this one really could go either way. Reintroducing the game won't blow people away like The Last Guardian's re-reveal in 2015, but it will nevertheless bring closure to one of the more intriguing vaporware titles of recent years, and hopefully prove it a worthy project to boot.
