E3 2018: 13 Insane Announcements That Could Actually Happen
6. Final Fantasy VII Remake Episode 1 Gets A Release Date
Fans the world over were stunned when Final Fantasy VII Remake was finally confirmed back at E3 2015, though since then updates have been intermittent at best, with the development process reportedly being restarted last year due to unsatisfactory results.
However, with Square Enix hosting an E3 show this year, it's expected that they've got plenty to show off in addition to Kingdom Hearts III and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Reintroducing FFVII Remake to audiences, complete with a new trailer and a 2019 release date for the first of its three parts, would be a great way to keep people enthusiastic about a project that's courting a lot of scepticism at present.
How Likely Is It?: Square Enix march to the beat of their own drum and rarely stick to a single pattern of development, so it's incredibly tough to say. The game being more or less restarted in 2017 perhaps suggests we're still a few years off from the game's release, but it's not totally outside the realm of possibility for one-third of FFVII Remake to be ready for next spring.
