E3 2018: 13 Insane Announcements That Could Actually Happen
12. The Last Of Us Part II Releases In Late 2018
Going by Naughty Dog's typical production schedule, they tend to release a new game every 2-3 years, so with Uncharted 4 releasing over two years ago - we're not counting The Lost Legacy as it's a spin-off - development-wise it certainly makes sense that The Last of Us Part II could get a surprise November/December 2018 release date.
Considering the expectation from many that the game wouldn't release until 2019 or even 2020, this would drop jaws around the world.
How Likely Is It?: Not very, but it's definitely still possible. After all, the original The Last of Us was released around 18 months after its first unveiling, and Part II was first revealed 18 months ago also.
That said, the hype cycle is almost always longer for sequels, and with late 2018 already being bulked out by AAA monsters such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V and Red Dead Redemption 2, Naughty Dog might prefer to stake out a slot in the less-crowded summer 2019 slate.
