E3 2018: 3 Ups & 6 Downs From Square Enix's Conference

3. The Awful Sound Mixing In The Kingdom Hearts III Trailer

Square Enix dropped a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III - which we learned this week has been delayed to a "final" release date of January 29, 2019 - except the term "new" has to be used pretty liberally here.

The three-minute trailer was basically just a scarcely re-edited version of the one that appeared in Microsoft's E3 conference the day before, but to make matters worse, it was still rife with the terrible sound mixing that so many fans noted the first time around.

For some reason, a number of the scenes in the trailer didn't have any environmental sound effects at all, leaving the dialogue to sound jarringly crisp and out-of-place, drawing attention to the fact that, yes, it was recorded in a cushy sound booth.

Hell, there's even a moment in the trailer where Sora clearly speaks but we hear nothing come out of his mouth. Is this really a good look for one of the company's most important upcoming projects?

And considering that the technical problems with the trailer were abundant the day before it aired, Square Enix clearly had time to fix it. How unprofessional.
