E3 2018: 3 Ups & 6 Downs From Square Enix's Conference
4. That Vague, Weird Teaser For The Quiet Man
Square Enix did introduce a mysterious new title called The Quiet Man by way of a brief teaser trailer. The clip began with a live-action intro, where a deaf young man wanders the city streets and finds himself facing off against a gang of thugs.
As they confront the lad, the action shifts from video to in-engine graphics, and the presumed protagonist of the game beats the snot out of the gangsters while the game's slogan, "Silence rings loudest", is displayed.
Beyond the briefest of glimpses at the game's engine, we know almost nothing about it. The closing title card confirmed it's releasing for PS4 and PC and will be developed by Human Head Studios (2006's original Prey, Dungeon Defenders II), while adding that more will be coming in August (presumably at GamesCom).
This one just didn't really hit the mark, sadly. It's not entirely fair to judge a game based off a 75-second teaser, but the cheesy live-action footage and rather generic-looking action gameplay don't leave much of a first impression. It was probably better to just save this for a full reveal in August, honestly.
