5. Borderlands 3
The old joke goes that Borderlands 3 had been delayed until they figured out a way for the guy to shoot himself in the head three ways for the cover. It seems like they’ve finally figured that out though, as the game is apparently drawing ever closer.
It was confirmed in 2016, but not all that much has happened since then. A tech demo of Borderlands using Unreal 4 was given in 2017, but things were made very clear that this was a technical demonstration and not an actual game. However, since then things have started heating up after Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford started putting out cryptic tweets in November.
Just a few days ago, Gearbox also tweeted an image of a billboard in Borderlands art style, displaying the words ‘March 28, Boston, MA’. This is a clear reference to the PAX East Gaming Convention, which is likely where the game will actually be announced, and may even offer up a teaser.
However, after the likes of Aliens: Colonial Marines and Battleborn, Gearbox’s name is no longer a selling point alone. Borderlands may need to hit a few different shows to really get those hype wheels turning.
