E3 2019: 10 Rumoured Video Games You Need To Know About
4. Fable 4
Fable Legends could have been the first to a party that’s now firmly ran by Overwatch, but the hero/villain mechanic was poorly executed, the characters were slightly dull and the beta just didn’t grab anyone. In the end, it never even saw the light of day as developers Lionhead folded.
With that, most of us thought, so did our hopes of a fourth Fable game (that god awful Kinect tie in definitely doesn’t count). While the first game promised the earth and only gave us Huddersfield, the gameplay itself was pretty great. The second and third entires refined the game’s trademark sarcastic humour, even if the simplified mechanics weren’t for everyone.
Therefore, regardless of which entry in the series was your favourite, news of Fable 4 would get you excited. However, Playground Games (of Forza Horizon fame) are apparently at the helm of a revived Fable 4, so the franchise will get at least one last crack at things.
Horizon is open world, but as a racer it bears little resemblance (barring its British setting) to Fable. Still, with how middling to poor the Xbox exclusives have been compared with Sony’s, there’s a lot riding on Fable being great.
