E3 2019: 7 Ups & 6 Downs From Microsoft's Conference
Ups...
7. It Was An Incredible Advert For Xbox Game Pass
Say what you want about Microsoft's show overall, but it certainly did an astounding job of selling Xbox Game Pass to, well, just about everyone.
First off, they confirmed that Game Pass for PC was now in open beta, with 100 games available immediately, including Metro Exodus, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Sunset Overdrive, Ori and the Blind Forest and many more titles both AAA and indie, for the low price of $9.99 per month.
Furthermore, those who wish to have Game Pass for both PC and Xbox One, along with an Xbox Live Gold subscription, can combine the three into Game Pass Ultimate, for an impressively cheap $14.99 per month.
Over the course of the show, Microsoft confirmed 34 more games for day-one release on Game Pass, including Obsidian's new sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds, Ninja Theory's new game Bleeding Edge, Minecraft Dungeons, a new Blair Witch first-person horror game, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Psychonauts 2, and a shedload of indie titles including Oxenfree follow-up Afterparty.
With the service finally catering to PC players, Game Pass looks like it's about to realise its fullest potential. What a time to be alive.
