E3 2019: 7 Ups & 6 Downs From Microsoft's Conference

1. Too Many CGI Trailers, Not Enough Gameplay

It's always something fans complain about during E3 week, but 2019 seems to be no different, at least so far. Microsoft's conference placed a frustrating focus on glossy CGI cinematic trailers rather than actual gameplay footage.

In addition to Gears 5 and Halo Infinite showing no campaign gameplay whatsoever, the intriguing Elden Ring trailer offered up no gameplay, and though Cyberpunk 2077's cinematic trailer demonstrated eye-wateringly impressive animation - especially in 4K! - people really just want to see more of it in action at this point.

These cinematic trailers are clearly effective marketing, but no matter how good they look, it's tough not to view them as rather shallow and superficial.

But on the other hand, here's everything Microsoft nailed with this year's conference...
