Every Call Of Duty Campaign Ranked Worst To Best
8. Modern Warfare 3
Closing up the epic journeys of Price and Soap was never going to be easy, and as a whole Modern Warfare 3 did a pretty fine job of giving fans what they wanted. That being said, did it have to be such a narrative shambles?
As singular missions, the levels featuring Soap, Price, Yuri and doomed-from-the-start Delta Squad were great little adventures, offering up some predictable but heart-pounding sequences. Unfortunately, they're all over the place, lacking any cohesive structure and tripped up by an over-reliance on introducing new, all-too-brief characters.
All that aside, though, there remains an awful lot to love. Yuri's backstory and link to the previous game is well-handled, as is Soap's gut-punch of a death and Delta Force's slow motion final stand.
Admittedly, we as fans could have done with a better showdown with big bad Makarov, but even with the letdowns Modern Warfare 3 is pure CoD insanity, sporting great characters and action beats that hit all the right notes even when the narrative loses its way.
