Every Indiana Jones Video Game Ranked Worst To Best
14. Indiana Jones In Revenge Of The Ancients
Text-based adventures are timeless, developing the story by simply allowing you to interact with the world through narrative choice and typing simple instructions instead of complex interactions. They predated video game visuals as we remember them, and some of the greatest video games of all time (hello, Zork) are still played and stand up well to this day thanks to their creative plots and enjoyable twists.
On the other hand, there's Indiana Jones in Revenge of the Ancients. Released on the Apple Macintosh and MS-DOS in 1987, this text adventure does its best to recreate Indy's action lifestyle through a brand new, never told story of an ancient power that could destroy the planet if placed in the wrong hands. Also, snakes.
It's an a-typical Indiana Jones adventure as you try to survive all of his usual enemies, but the adventure wares thin compared to the big screen counterparts. In fact, by the time of its release, Nintendo were starting to get a foothold in the home console market and video game arcades were all the rage. This little Indy never really stood a chance, which in a way is a damn shame.
