13. Indiana Jones In The Lost Kingdom

Indiana Jones NES
Minescape, Inc.

Indiana Jones in the Lost Kingdom had but one simple purpose: to challenge the player to solve the mystery of six different locations by using your wits instead of clues to discover the whereabouts of a hidden civilisation. Or, more simply, if Indiana can figure it out, so can you.

Though slightly more detailed than Raiders of the Lost Ark, the game didn't exactly translate the experience of being Indiana Jones well, let alone provide a meaty experience. The game was limited to those six screens, with no real movement outside of them and very few ways to interact with them.

Sure, you could change the difficulty level before the start of each room, but there was no real sense of progression or adventure. As one issue of classic Commodore 64 magazine Info once put it, they should have titled this game 'Indiana Jones in the Kingdom of Lost Causes'. Ouch.

Born in Ireland and raised in Australia, Mark still wishes his Tetris and Mario Kart skills could translate to the real world more than just writing about games for nearly 20 years. Still, can't complain.
