3. Resident Evil 2

The game that made millions scream "Capcom is back!" (even their CEO), Resident Evil 2 is the new and old school combined to beautiful degree.

For the latter train of thought, the iconic Racoon City Police Department received some notable tweaks to its layout and item placement, but that age-old sensibility of puzzle-solving and incremental rewards holds true. The entire game you'll need to watch your ammo count, picking which zombies to down for the opening third, only to steadily gain confidence and access to better weaponry as the pace of everything increases tenfold.

Twin main characters Leon and Claire are back again, both with separate campaigns that do intersect pretty often, but the only way to get the true ending and see everything on offer, is to spend time with both.

Then there's the free challenge DLC, and if the game wasn't intense enough - try running enemy-packed streets to a time limit, or fighting foes that can't die unless you use specific ammo.

Resident Evil 2 is the full package. There's not a microtransaction in sight, and every second of its rollout feels masterfully executed.
