3. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Release Date: Oct 25th

Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

Whilst the COD franchise has seen its popularity wan in the years, Black Ops 4 was seen as a step in the right direction, jettisoning shallow campaigns in favour of a leaner, more muscular games-as service battle royale model. In retrospect, it makes the sharp turn of this annual entry quite odd.

Not only has it set it itself up with the impossible task of rebooting the highest-regarded instalment in the franchise (which received a solid remaster only two years ago) but its emphasis on gritty modern warfare feels dated and unimaginative.

For its multiplayer, it will sell like gangbusters but let’s see if anyone remembers it by next years entry.
