Everything We Know About 2018's Most Mysterious Video Games

7. Sea Of Thieves

Rare's swashbuckling ocean adventure has been a long time coming. 2016 was the first time anyone laid eyes on the Xbox One exclusive, but despite us getting a further look at its enchanting world at this year's E3, heaps of questions still remain.

Some answers are available in the form of Sea of Thieves' ongoing technical alpha, but not everyone is so lucky as to have access. Rare keeps its fanbase in the loop with regular videos detailing activities like treasure hunts and the like, but how does the open world adventure's working parts mesh together into a whole?

According to a recent interview with GamesTM, Rare's executive producer Joe Neate makes specific mention of EVE Online and DayZ as games that he and the team drew inspiration from in constructing their own sandbox world, both titles that follow a minimalist approach to meddling in the player's affairs. That being the case, expect a whole lot of open-ended play where the only limit to success is the quality of your crew.

Let's hope the early 2018 launch window stays in effect. Microsoft desperately needs a win, as far as first-party exclusives are concerned. Sea of Thieves could be just the ticket it needs to right the ship.
