Fable Reboot Wishlist: 5 Things We Want (And 5 We Don't)

3. Don’t: A generic uninteresting villain threat

Fable 4
Lionhead Studios

The trajectory of the villains in the Fable franchise has indeed mimicked the games own reception critically.

We started with Jack of Blades, a compelling yet straightforward villain who drove the plot very well and truly gave players someone to attest to beating. Then we had Lucien, a fascinating, complex villain at first who slowly became more and more average as the game progressed, overall good but generally mundane. Finally, the third edition to the trilogy culminated in a generic, dull corruption concept villain who had no areas of intrigue what so ever.

It is imperative to write the wrongs of the franchises mistakes in regards to its big bads. A new chance to create an enemy worthy of the world of Albion could instantly set the new game apart from the others and prove that revamping the series was worth it.

All great heroes need a good villain, and since being a hero is a crucial part of Fable itself, this is something that cannot be botched.
