Fable Reboot Wishlist: 5 Things We Want (And 5 We Don't)
2. Do: A good final fight
Fable featured an ending boss fight that many believed was lacklustre, and if they knew what would come later for the franchise then perhaps this would not have been received so negatively.
Fable 2 saw a complete withdraw of a satisfying climactic encounter. The battle with the spire shard was fun, but players had no idea that would be last part of real gameplay that they would experience.
The showdown with Lucien was something people were looking forward to, but it was over too quickly. It did make narrative sense, Lucien had never presented himself as a physical threat so he wouldn't have been able to put up a fight; still, a lacking climax was obvious.
Fable 3 featured a boss fight, but it did not feel compelling from a gameplay standard or a storyline perspective, it was merely there and bore no real drive from players.
This is something the franchise has been mocked for vehemently throughout its lifetime, and Playground games should make sure that the latest game cannot be a part of that poor boss fight legacy.
