Fallout 4: 10 Locations That Could Be The Next New Vegas

4. Toronto, Canada

... Or why not go further north still (and quite a long way east), and move the setting to one of the most talked-about and significant areas in the Fallout canon? Canada was right at the forefront of the Resource Wars leading up to nuclear holocaust, as the US annexed the country in order to get its oil supplies and to have easy passage to Alaska, where it sought to protect its precious oil pipelines at Anchorage. Inevitably, this led to bad blood between the people of the two countries, and it's about time the series depicted this. Playing as a US native in Canada (for whatever reason) would be a great way to explore these tensions, and perhaps Canada could even be in a better state than America, thanks to the fact that (as far as I'm aware) it wasn't bombed in the Great War. In Fallout 3 DLC, The Pitt, we hear a place called 'Ronto' mentioned a couple of times, which could be an economical nickname for Toronto. It's implied in the Pitt that Ronto is a formidable military power, and its scenic setting on Lake Ontario would make it a joy to wander, with the map potentially reaching as far as Niagara Falls in the south. Mutated elks, bears and rad-raccoons (maybe) could replace the creatures we're now so over-familiar with from previous games in the series, and factions could include Canadian nationalists and Enclave remnants attempting to gain some kind of foothold in Canada. Hell, just to embrace some stereotypes, there should be a crazed mountie faction too - made up of hardline Canadian police officers with a violent distrust towards Americans who ride around on mutated horses.
