Fallout 4: 12 Disturbing Stories & Locations You Totally Missed

3. Covenant Is Too Good To Be True

From Goodneighbor to even the shady underbelly of Diamond City, every settlement in Fallout 4 is home to an evil of some kind. So when you stumble across the colourful settlement of Covenant, a small town situated to the east of the map, you might be surprised to see that everyone who lives there is so gosh darn happy. But you've had some experience traversing the Wasteland so far, and you know it's only a matter of time until the settlement shows its true colours.

With rumblings of a sacked caravan not far from the camp's outskirts and a lone hired-gun asking around about a potential missing person, it's only a matter of time until the dark secret of Covenant comes to light. Even then though, the actual truth behind the town and the fate of the caravan is more horrifying than you could ever imagine.

Not only did the townspeople kidnap the girl, but the entire settlement functions as a screening centre to capture synths in disguise. Once caught, the synths are sent off to a nearby lab for a series of painful experiments. After infiltrating the compound it becomes apparent that the experiments are being performed to create a test that identifies whether someone is a synth or not by asking them a couple of specific questions (yes, it pretty much is the entire plot of Blade Runner).

While that sounds like a rather noble effort, the lengths in which these experimenters are willing to go to achieve these goals is truly terrifying.
