Fallout 4: 12 Settings That Would Be Better Than Boston
9. Butte, Montana
The once-famous boomtown might not be the most obvious or recognisable locale for a Fallout game, but it could make for a brilliant setting considering Fallout's alternative timeline. Butte's economic prosperity, owing in large part to the region's immense copper deposits, continued up until the 1950s, suggesting that it could have remained an affluent city in the Fallout universe. The great thing about this is that Butte could very well contain all the retro-futuristic elements that make Fallout what it is, while outside of the small city and mining complex there would remain a massive rural wasteland for players to wander through. That Montana backdrop would be perfectly suited to some old-school vehicular carnage, provided Bethesda actually adds vehicles to the series or at the very least some form of irradiated steed. Either way, it's an area of America that Fallout has yet to cover, and one that is scarcely mentioned in the series. Most fans would love to see some kind of nod to The Lonesome Drifter who appeared in Fallout: New Vegas stating that he was from Montana, and whose father is heavily suggested to be the series' legendary helping hand, the Mysterious Stranger.
