Fallout: Ranking Every Vault From Least To Most Horrifying

22. Vault 79 - Stores Gold From America's Bullion Repository

Fallout Vault 112

First appearing in Fallout 76, Vault 79 was never intended to be actually used as a nuclear fallout shelter.

Instead, Vault 79 housed the entire gold bullion haul of the United States Government as it was secretly moved from Fort Knox before the bombs dropped in 2077.

The idea was that the gold would be used to rebuild society as and when it was needed. Of course, that never happened.

The Vault was guarded by several soldiers in the build-up to the nukes hitting, and they ended up being the Vault's inhabitants. Several years later, a secret service agent named Shorty, who was in the Vault, held a mutiny and killed many of the soldiers inside. What happened after that is unknown, but it's believed many of the other soldiers killed themselves.
