2. Exploration Works This Time

Though the action set-pieces are an incredible part of Far Cry 3, it's the exploration that will be the most appealing element to many, and Rook Island is far and away a more engrossing, enticing locale than what was presented to us in either of the previous games. It would have been easy for the island, like in Far Cry 2, to be vast but not particularly interesting, recycling the same missions, textures and gameplay over and over again; that is not the case here. It's not only extremely expansive, but also very varied, and players who dig deep into the island's flora and fauna will find themselves rewarded with loot that'll allow them to stock up on bigger and better weapons. It's that rare open-world game that really makes you want to explore every nook and cranny, and as a result, it has to be one of the best sandbox games in recent memory, and perhaps of all time, but it is exactly that, time, that will tell.
