Far Cry 3: 10 Reasons Why It's Awesome

1. RPG Elements

What was the easiest way for Ubisoft to make Far Cry a more engrossing experience? Why, turn it into an RPG of course! Well, that's not to say this third game is vastly different gameplay-wise, but like just about seemingly every game these days, it awards the player XP and allows them to level-up as they progress through the game. Levelling up is visually depicted in the game through tattoos that Jason is given, and this is successful in making us viscerally feel the progress rather than simply ascribing it to a number in the top left-hand corner (which is also available too). Though the various skill trees are easy enough to blast your way through before the story mode is over, they help to incentivise play, giving you a greater impetus to head off on some side-missions to level up before the next big story battle. Besides, who can resist wanting to unlock knife-throwing, and the ability to perform chain kills with a giant machete like you're Jason Voorhees on holiday or something? When you've got your mits on Far Cry, let us know what you think in the comments below.
