Far Cry 3: 10 Reasons Why It's Awesome

3. Gameplay Diversity

The core gameplay of Far Cry 3 involves climbing radio towers - in much the same way as in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series - in order to take over the 18 regions that make up the game's expansive island. Controlling a radio tower ensures that the area is patrolled by friendly guards rather than enemies, and opens up a glut of missions for you to take on, such as assisting the local villagers, performing assassinations on rivals, hunting animals, and of course, driving missions. Even outside of our own exploration, Ubisoft does a good job of varying up the gameplay, such that the sun-kissed locales don't end up feeling samey; needless to say, the game takes us to some unexpected areas we've not seen in the series before. But this probably won't be enough for those well steeped in sandbox gameplay, and rightly so; there is a wealth of side content that will absolutely keep any fan of the series entertained, ranging from time-attack arcade-style driving and shooting challenges, to simple games of cards and knife-throwing with the friendly villagers.
