FIFA 14: 10 Over-Rated Players Who Need Downgrading In January Updates

2. Erik Lamela (Tottenham Hotspur) - 81

Of the numerous signings Spurs made off the back of their record breaking sale of Gareth Bale, none generated more excitement than Erik Lamela, on whom Spurs set a new transfer fee record of £30m. Lamela had built up a reputation for himself in Serie A-club Roma for being a creative attacking midfielder with exceptional dribbling skills; he was even thought to be the man who would fill the big gap left by Bale. Perhaps with all this expectation it was inevitable that Lamela would disappoint; however no one anticipated quite how underwhelming he'd be. He has scored only one goal all season and even this was against Europa League whipping-boys FC Sheriff. What's worse, he can be chronically inactive. His rating would suggest he's superior to dependable Spurs players like Lenon (79), Holtby (79) and the criminally underrated Townsend (76) which clearly he isn't.
