1. The Valuation Of Ronaldo & Messi
Naturally, the two players widely accepted as the greatest footballers on the planet make up first and second place on EA's Top 50 list for yet another year. There's no disputing that either of them are worthy of their place having scored an eye-watering 115 goals between them last season alone. They also helped their respective teams reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and finished 1st and second in La Liga. But that's not to say there aren't any bones to pick here. Messi is rated 94 and Ronaldo 92 - meanwhile, back in third place, Franck Ribery is at 90 - are we really expected to believe the difference between Messi and Ronaldo is the same as the difference between Ronaldo and Ribery? There's no way Ribery can be considered only marginally worse-off than Messi, either. If you're going to make Messi and Ronaldo stand out as the two best players in the game, surely it would make sense to afford them ratings of, say, 97 and 95 and leave the likes of Ribery on 90? There simply cannot be that dearth of difference between first, second and third place.
