Fifa 14 Legends It's more realistic, and more complex, but it's no less fun to play. Those are the three key pillars that form the foundation of FIFA 14's success. Some more casual players will no doubt complain that the learning curve from the last game is too steep, but any game franchise that relies too much on empty "progression" without any real changes, and allows veteran players to coast by without a challenge isn't worth playing. Players will be forced to re-evaluate how they play, thanks to the move away from pace ruling all, and even the highest level of skilled players will have to spend some time getting used to the new system, particular as there is so much more impetus on individual players having to work more to keep the ball under control, and to make it react as they intend it to, rather than every player being superhumanly overpowered. EA Sports have been brave, avoiding any accusations that they have become stale and boring by offering a new challenge to every player, and the move away from arcade-like thrills has to be seen as a positive step forward. Players will have to consider their selections, and transfers to build a team with balance - strong midfielders who can protect the ball, alongside skilled dribblers and good strikers, rather than just a mediocre team with a few pacey attackers. The focus this year is on skill, technique and preparation, and while mistakes can feel over-punished, it means that adapting to the new requirements of the game is a lot more rewarding.
